I am a sport and recreation management student. I am so glad that my tutor had arranged a guest lecture for us. The name of the guest called Tina.
To be honest, Tina gave a very useful speech by sharing her experience in her company and the how sport related in the public relations.
In the talk, Tina told us about the stakeholders within the sport event. Tina use an examples to show what is public relations. She asked a question “if someone want to advertise on the front page of the newspaper, how much it is? “ The answer is three hundred thousand. However, it can also be free if there is big news. It is very interesting for me. Tina also talks about the stakeholder. In the sport event, the manager needs to identify the different stakeholders which include the organization, , media, participants, sponsor and audience. It is very important that having the good relationship between the sponsor, media and the company. Sport event is different with other event. There must have the participant to join the sport event. Keeping the good relationship between the reporter and the manager, it can make them to write the positive and good things about the event.
Also, Tina also tells a important thing. The managers need to think lots of contingency measures in different emergency and situation. They also need to notice all the staff and the helper about the plan of the contingency measures. It can make sure that the event can be carried out smoothly.
Besides that, the organization need to promote the event before three to four week if there is no ticket sell. It needs to prepare many things before one sport event. Most of the sport event is full day. It needs to prepare well and consider different angle.
I had learned many things after this guest lecture. I really want to try to promote or organize the event. I want to know more about public relations and I will try my best to do it. I am looking forward for the next guest lecture!
